Well now.

Thu Aug 25, 2005, 2:56 PM
Hi, this is Catriana. I'm writing this because I've been getting a few notes from people about this Club. I had given this club up a while ago. I began it and ran it but I left for Navy Boot Camp and passed the club onto someone else.

I am going to take back over the club, as it has been inactive for a month or so and it is going on strong, but I cannot do it alone.

I will try and do what I can when I can, but please, stop sending me notes to my account from now on. If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please note the club. I will go through the notes and comments tonight and tomorrow and begin to make updates. If anyone would like to become a moderator please let me know.

Thanks to everyone who brought the inactivity to my attention, I will do what I can to deal with it.

Plans/Changes

There is no need to "join" in the sense. What will probably happen is that this club will become sort of a 'gathering of those who wish to stop art theft'. We can't point anyone out publically(I learned that the hard way), however, if we act as a community, come up with effecient proof and try to conquer the problem in a sensible manner to the proper people, I'm sure we can make a difference. What does that mean?

-I might make a forum, or you guys can just message the club and it can get dealt with. Initially, I had a 'judging' thing going on, because sometimes innocent people were accused of art theft, and so I wanted this to be a club where actual art thiefs were taken care of, and not have just people be reported because 'someone was jealous' or whatever. Also, tracing really isn't art theft. Tracing is a good way to improve if you are beginning, albiet not very original, and cannot be reported as such.

-There will no longer be a member list, putting the Anti-theft icon up is purely optional. I don't do it on my journals anymore, I don't expect everyone else to do it. If you wish to spread the word, please do so, but it will not be enforced. I dislike doing that.

I'd really like this to be a group thing, to where people who are just fed up with it can get together, come up with a mature, professional way of dealing with the problem, and deal with it. I dislike flamers, I dislike people who flame other people. It doesn't matter if they're wrong, it's immature and I can refrain from being mean and nasty to people, I do believe anyone can. That doesn't mean be sugar sweet and nice, and I understand that there are idiots out there in the world that somewhat NEED that good verbal smackdown, but it only makes you look like a jackass when you go to their account and flame them....even if you're right.

So again, I'd really like to get some moderators(5 or more) who would really like to get together and really make this club work. Again as I said, my time is pretty limited due to projects and work, but I am still willing to fight the good cause.

*WHEW* Well, I think that was a year's worth of makeup speech right?

Oh and remember, if you ever have any questions/ideas to make the club better/suggestions/ANYTHING, never hesitate to let us know here. I'm not perfect, I need all the help I can get sometimes.

-Last thing. Please Title all Theft reportsArt Theft Report. You will also need to show some evidence of said theft so that we don't accuse anyone that's innocent. Thanks everyone who messaged me and I'm sorry for not coming back sooner!

The thing that irratates me more than the art thieves is the Deviantart staff! I've reported dozens of stolen deviation, posted the link to the origional image, explained the image, and (usually) inform them that the rest of his/her gallery is stolen too. Not once have I seen a user banned or an image come down! No wonder we have such a problem with art theft. Most art thieves I encounter simply say (even with evidence/link that its a rip) that they made it themselves, or that they know its stolen, but "hahaha", nobodys going to do anything about it. Perhaps DA wants to turn this place into a Myspace or Geocities... :(

I agree. You'd think after a year they would've fixed it, but, nope.
